Kangaroo Island
We recently went to Kangaroo Island, better known as “KI” locally.
KI is Australia’s the third-largest island, after Tasmania and Melville Island (off the coast of the Northern Territory). It is located 112km SW of Adelaide.
We started the day quite early with a taxi to central bus station. From there we went by bus to Cape Jervis at 6:45am , then caught the KI Sealink ferry from Cape Jervis to Penneshaw. Once on Kangaroo Island, we hopped on board a Sealink tour bus for a ‘one day highlights’ tour of KI.
The itinerary for the day was as follows:
- Seal Bay Guided Beach Tour
- Hanson Bay Sanctuary Koala Walk
- Flinders Chase National Park
- Remarkable Rocks
- Admirals Arch
- 2 Course Lunch
Our first stop was seal bay conservation park where we met some lovely seals:
The next stop was interesting as we met a South African lady who now helps to run the Hanson Bay Sanctuary. We saw up to 6 koalas on a brief walk. Here is a picture of one:
We then went to Vivonne Bay, where we enjoyed a lovely two course lunch:
After lunch, we drove to the Flinders Chase National Park, where we saw some great sights:
Here is also a snap of Cape Du Couedic Lighthouse
We ended the day back in Penneshaw for fish & chips. Then the journey back to Adelaide. It was an excellent day thanks to Leonie’s last minute booking!
